Hali'a Pneumonia Again!

  • April 25th (Friday) Hali'a started running a fever so I started giving her some baby Tylenol
  • April 26th (Saturday) Her breathing starting to get a little wheezy so we started treating her with the nebulizer and albuteral medication. She started getting more fussy during the night with fever and difficulty breathing waking up at 1 and 3 am unsettled.
  • April 27th (Sunday) Jason and Hali'a stayed home from church sick.  Jason gave he a blessing.
  • April 29th (Tuesday) Hali'a's breathing was very heavy, coughing until almost spewing, but would settle after treatment. She needed it more often than just 4 hour gaps.
  • April 30th (Wednesday)
    • 12am-Woke up to Hali'a struggling to breath. Began treatment on her, but she was twitching and no improvement in breathing, so gave her another one. Still no improvement. So, we said a prayer asking for guidance to know how to help her. Got the promptings to take her to hospital. Gave her Tylenol.
    • 1:30am-Checked into Kahuku Hospital-She received 5 treatments, has X-rays, ibuprofen and had a 103.6 degree F fever, 22 pounds. We were able to leave granted her signs improved a little but with a follow-up with PCP Dr.
    • 4:20am-Dishcharged from Kahuku
    • 8am-Took her to PCP Dr. He read the X-Rays and said she has pneumonia located more in her right lung. So we were instructed to take her to Kapi'olani Hospital (they specialize in care for Women and Children)
    • 9:30am-Let Hali'a and mommy take a nap
    • 12:30pm-Left for hospital
    • 1:30pm-Dropped Nanea off with Aunty Ashlee DeCaires-where tutu and Uncle Pi'i would pick her up just 30 minutes later. Nanea ended up staying the night with them and we were so grateful to know that she was in very good and safe care while we tried to find help for Hali'a.
    • 2pm-Checked into Kapi'olani Hospital with a 99.1 degree temperature. This later increased through the day to 101.4 degrees. While there, she received 2 treatments, had X-Rays taken, 2 hours of IV, antibiotics, Tylenol and ibuprofen.  The IV team came put it in because of the experience last time of them poking and prodding all over the place. This time it was done in 1 shot. We were lucky because our nurse got us a private room with a bathroom and TV which made it a little more comfortable.  We knew we'd be there for at least 3 hours. She was tended to by Dr. Rodney B. Boychuk.
    • 5-9pm-Jason's classmate picked him up for class at UH and dropped him back off. Before he left, he recorded Twinkle Twinkle little start for Hali'a which helped when she got fussy and had to get the IV in.
    • 9:30pm-Finally discharged and went to 24 hour Pharmacy-Wallgreens.
    • 12am-Arrived home, have Hali'a a treatment and finally went to sleep for the night!
  • Final Diagnosis of Hali'a were:
    • Dehydration, hyponatremia, metabolic acidosis, difficulty breathing, brochospasm, wheezing, coughing, abnormal chest x-ray, bronchiolitis, anemia, respiratory distress, and intercostal retractions!!!!!!!  SO glad we went to the hospital.
    • Now she's on antibiotics for 5 days, 1 steroid and fever medication when needed

  • 1st (Tuesday)-Took the girls to the Dr. and found out that Nanea had an ear infection and Hali'a has asthma.  They were both running fevers so we haven't been out much to make sure that they don't pass their illnesses on.
