Tairawhiti 4 months

Weight: 18 pounds 6 ounces
Length: 28.75 inches
This boy is growing so quickly.  He is such a happy baby. He can now hold up his head and is so good on his tummy. He is starting to creep, pushing up his bum and grabbing things with his Hands to pull on. We got a bumbo seat with a tray which he sits in and loves to play in. His schedule is pretty consistent, taking maps at 9am, 12noon, 3pm and then usually falls asleep between 8 and 9am. He wakes up during the night 2-3 times and is so quiet when he does so. He sleeps Mose of the night in the boppy and then others times on his tummy. He doesn't scream when He wakes up,. He just smiles, talks a little, licks his mouth and plays with his hands util I grab him to feed.  His sisters love him and are always willing to help him by talking to him whe. He gets a little fussy. They love kissing him and holding hi when we let them. He's such a happy baby.
Mommy weight: 143.6 pounds

Tairawhiti 3 months 11/17

This boy is so good. He has certainly packed on more weight. He's quite heavy to carry. I've moved him into 3-6month old clothes...starting on the 6-9 month old clothes. He can now hold his head up kore strongly. Recognizes mommy and daddy more. He loves playing super-man with daddy going up and down, pushing off his lap when he comes down. While he doesn't take the bottle with us, he pretty much does with tutu and Moana on Mondays. He's so goody doesn't mind being carried by anyone and is just so chill like daddy. Such a sweet presence added to our family. He loves and knows his sister as do they love him too. The girls are so helpful in getting things for mommy especially if it's for baby. His cry is becoming more meaningful. He even has a pout when he's sad, still able to soothe him with his swing. Sleeps the best on his tummy. Wakes up 2-3 times a night, at 11pm and 5am-ish.

November

  • 1st (Saturday) Played in a beach VB tournament with my usual partner, Dawn, at Queens. We came in 3rd.
  • 2nd (Sunday) Jason finished his 10 day Purium Cleanse. Lost a total of 20 pounds (See post).
  • 5th (Wednesday) Maraea, Ross, Arliya and Aysia Jade finally arrived in Hawaii.
  • 6th (Thursday)-8th (Saturday) Checked into Turtle Bay to spend nice time with family. Enjoyed the pools all day, surfing (Maraea), Teds bakery, all quality time. Cashed in on our 4th Anniversary gift for a free night there. This had been a long awaited the visit. Never did we ever really believe that they would come and visit us, the day they booked their tickets, we were so excited! We tried our best to make sure that they enjoyed their visit her in Hawaii. It was literally the first time for Maraea, Girly and Aysia on an airplane and to Hawaii. So, we decided to go all out as much as we could. Since our place is very tiny (and we're not supposed to have any over-night visitors) after our first night here at our studio in Laie, were told them to get ready to go "camping". Well we ended up surprising them with a night at Turtle Bay, one of the most beautiful hotels in Hawaii. After our first night there, we decided to do add another night at the hotel. We were luckily able to get two adjoining rooms (one for us and one for them). We just opened the mid door and were able to go back and forth. The kids absolutely loved playing in the pools and just wanted to continue doing so. It was great. It was totally worth ever dollar that we spent creating memories and such beautiful, happy faces on every single person's face.
  • 9th (Sunday) Visit at Uncle Hyran's and Aunty Bj's.
  • 11th (Tuesday) Lunch at Uncle Elgin's. This was absolutely fun. Unfortunately Uncle had to go to a meeting, but we were able to catch up with Lindy, Aaron, Li'u, Bronson, and Aunty Peaches and Aunty Faith flew in from the big island. We had a BBQ, potluck, and swam at his house in town.
  • 12th (Wednesday) Checked into other vacation rental in Kahuku with Nelly and PJ.
  • 14th (Friday) PCC and Lu'au.
  • 18th (Tuesday) Aunty BJ passed away.
  • 20th (Thursday) Hiked Koko head withe Maraea before sunrise. This was something we had debated on doing the entire time they were here. Well, we finally made up our minds and went without the kids and the boys. It was worth it. We were advised to leave Laie by 4am, so we did. When we got there, it was dark as, but people were going up and others were already coming down. We got going and after just a little under 30 minute (I think), we reached the top with 40 minutes to spare! I'm glad that we went because the sunrise really is beautiful and priceless. I'm glad Maraea enjoyed it too. When we got down, we headed to Jamba Juice, which was just the icing on top! Then when we got home, we got a last minute call from cousin Aaron Campbell who a last minute cancel and opening for Maraea and Ross to go on the Zipline. We squeezed that in and then they left for NZ. What a packed couple of weeks it was. But, I have to say that we made every minute worth it.
  • 24th (Thursday) Aunty BJ smith's funeral and burial services. Jase was a pole barer.
  • 26th (Wednesday) Took Teinia and Johns kids for a surf at Castle's beach. Dropped off Turkey for imu.
  • 27th (Thursday) Stopped to see Katene's at turtle bay. Had Thanksgiving with family in mililani. Made green salad, potato salad, turkey (1st time-in the imu), ambrosia. Did some shopping with Moa at Walmart. Got bikes, scooters, ipads, helicopter.
  • 29th (Saturday) Jason went to temple session and hung out with Katene's.

Hali'a 21 Months

Weight: 26 pounds
I have been really horrible keeping up with her posts, but here is the latest from her Early Headstart Program.

Hali'a is beginning to:

  • accept redirection from adults' respond appropriately to others' expressions of wants; to move purposefully from place to pace with control; to use refined wrist and finger movements; to grip drawing and writing tools with whole hand but may use whole arm movements to make marks; initiate and attend to brief conversations; use appropriate eye contact, pauses, and simple verbal prompts when communicating; practice an activity many times until successful; match similar objects; imitate actions of others during play; use real objects as props; sing songs and recite rhymes and refrains with repeating initial sounds; orient book correctly; turns pages from front of the book to the back; recognizes familiar books by their covers; make simple comparisons between two objects.
Hali'a:
  • Seeks to do things for herself. Uses trusted adult as a secure base from which to explore the world.  Reacts to others' emotional expressions.  Expresses feelings during a conflict. Experiments with different ways to balancing. Identifies familiar people, animals, and objects when prompted. Follows simple requests not accompanied by gestures. Names familiar people, animals, and objects. Uses some words and word-like sounds and is understood by most familiar people. Reacts to a problem; seeks to achieve a specific goal. Recognizes people, objects, and animals in pictures or photographs. Joins in rhyming songs and games. Scribbles or makes marks. Verbally counts (not always in the correct order). Demonstrates understanding of the concepts of one, two, and more.  Follows simple directions related to position (in, on, under, up, down).  Matches two identical shapes.

Was a little taken back by his sleeping mask the first night, but was fine with it. Papa helped watch kids when I needed to go and study. He also accompanied Jason to the beach and absolutely enjoyed the sea breeze outside our door.
